Dr Tori heads to Israel
Religion Department Chair selected to receive a grant to travel to Israel
Archbishop Ryan High School is proud to announce that Dr. Carl Tori, Chair of the Religion Department at Ryan, has been selected by the Jewish Federation to a receive a special grant to be part of an interfaith contingent that will be visiting Israel next week. Dr Tori will be meeting with Christians, Muslims, Jews and Palestinian politicians, clergy, journalists, and peace activists while in there. The purpose of the trip is to enlighten attendees about the often conflicting narratives that are common in that part of the world.
“We are honored and excited about Dr Tori’s selection and look forward to the insight that he will bring back with him”, said Michael McArdle, President of Archbishop Ryan. “Our students and faculty will have a greater understanding of the issues based upon his first hand experience.”
Dr Tori has been teaching Religion at Ryan since 1975. He will be departing for Israel on Monday February 1, 2010 and returning on Monday February 8, 2010.
